For what purpose and on what legal basis do we process

Start Goed Hypotheekadvies processes your personal data for the following purposes:

– To deliver goods and services to you; this would include, among other things:

Purchasing a product • Receiving mortgage advice, insurance advice, credit advice, and investment advice; • Taking out a mortgage with one of our affiliated lenders, purchasing insurance from one of our affiliated insurers, or purchasing another financial product from one of our affiliated financial institutions; • Purchasing a finance-related product, such as a property appraisal, life insurance, investment account, or bank guarantee.

Purchasing a product

If you choose to enter into a contract with us for the purchase of a product (advice, mortgage, insurance, investments, loans, or a financial product), we will process the following information about you (and your partner) in addition to the information listed above:

  • Name;
  • Address;
  • Phone number and email address;
  • Date and place of birth;
  • Nationality;
  • BSN;
  • Your company's profit and Chamber of Commerce number (if you are a self-employed individual);
  • Income level, job title, and employer information (if employed);
  • Pension/benefit amount (if applicable);
  • Bank account number;
  • Financial Position (for the purpose of demonstrating own funds);
  • Information about your current mortgage, insurance policies, investments, loans, and residential or commercial property;
  • Smoking habits (when purchasing life insurance).

The BSN is a special category of personal data. We may only request this from you if there is a legal basis for doing so. Banks and insurers are required to receive a BSN when you submit an application so they can report your information to the tax authorities annually. Based on this, we are permitted to process your BSN on a one-time basis. Your smoking habits are also a special category of personal data, as they pertain to your health. We use this information solely to determine the premium amount for your life insurance policy and to submit an application on your behalf. Without this information, we cannot provide you with a realistic estimate of the potential premium.

Your financial information is sensitive. We will only request details about your income—such as an employer’s statement—if you actually decide to submit an application through us. Without these details, it is not possible to obtain a mortgage. We will, of course, protect your information as best we can to ensure that no one else has access to it.

 Automated Decision-Making

Start Goed Hypotheekadvies assumes #responsibility for decisions based on automated processing that may have (significant) consequences for individuals. These are decisions made by computer programs or systems without human intervention (such as by an employee of Start Goed Hypotheekadvies).

How Long We Retain Personal Data

Start Goed Hypotheekadvies does not retain your personal data any longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected. If you have taken out a mortgage, insurance policy, or other financial product through us, we are required by the Financial Supervision Act to retain your file for at least 5 years. However, we have a duty of care under the Civil Code for the entire term of your mortgage. We therefore choose to retain your file for as long as your mortgage is in effect. This allows us to always review the basis for your financial decisions.

Sharing Personal Data with Third Parties

We will only disclose your data to third parties if this is necessary to enter into the agreement you wish to conclude through our company. For example, if you wish to take out a mortgage or insurance policy with a lender or insurer, we will need to forward your data to the lender, insurer, or financial institution. In addition, we may be required by law to share your data. This includes tax authorities, law enforcement agencies such as the police and the judiciary, or regulatory bodies such as De Nederlandse Bank, the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets, and the Dutch Data Protection Authority. We have entered into a data processing agreement with all parties to whom we disclose data. Through these agreements, we ensure that your data is processed properly and securely. We remain responsible for data processing at all times.

In that case, we are unfortunately unable to delete your file upon request. Within 4 weeks, we will provide an overview of your information as it appears in our records. To do so, please send a request to info@startgoedhypotheekadvies, attaching a copy of your identification document. Start Goed Hypotheekadvies may charge a fee for the request to access your data if it concerns a copy of your personal data other than the first one, in accordance with Article 15 of the GDPR.

If you believe we are not handling your privacy properly, you have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority. To do so, please contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
